Happy Moments

The First Flower & Tender Vegetable

07-10-2013

I sowed Ridge Gourd (Peerkangai) on 08-09-2013.  Yesterday I noticed there were few flower buds peeping through the leaves. This evening the yellow Peerkangai flower blossomed & welcomed when I went to Terrace to water the plants.

There were few tender Peerkangais(Ridge Gourds) also noticed. All my pain of creating terrace garden for last one month has vanished on seeing the flowers & tender Peerkangais.  I share my happy moments with you through these photographs.

The tender ridge gourd shown above is now (after 17 days) as on 24-10-2013

    2. Sorry I couldn't give reply in time since I was out of station.

I was having unused cudappah stone slabs which I used. You can use used Fevicol, Distemper or paint buckets or cement bags on your terrace. If you spend little amount you can construct two feet height wall along side parapet wall. But before doing any garden work, get water proofing done on the terrace and for additional safety spread polythene sheets or plastic tray below the pots/bags. Water logging should not be there else seepage problem may start at later date. In case of any further query pl message.

  3. I am Rani, residing in Chidambaram, Cuddalore district. I like your garden. I have just started my terrace garden with few plants like, brinjal, laddies finger, bitter gourd and some greens. I can spend 1 hour daily for the maintenance. After visiting your pages, I am impressed and waiting to see the growth of my plants. I have also registered for TN govt. do it your self kit. I cannot get the details of the cost of that kit. If possible, can you please provide the details. I have visited the web sight and filled the application.
    Thank you.
